Privacy Policy

Sayka ("we," "our," or "us") is an English speaking practice app with 3D AI tutors. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Sayka mobile application and its related services (the "Service") collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• The text of what you say or type to your tutor. Your speech is turned into text on your device by the speech recognition of your phone's operating system; the app does not record or store audio, and no audio is sent to our servers
• Learning preferences you choose in the app: your first name or nickname, native language, English level, goals and interests, and the tutor you picked
• Writing tasks you submit for marking
• A photo, a job advertisement or the text of a CV, only if you choose to build a practice scenario or interview from it
• A display name and weekly points, only if you take part in the weekly league
• Feedback and support requests you send to us by email

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

• An anonymous identifier generated for your installation, and device information (device type, operating system, language, app version)
• On Android, the advertising ID in hashed form, and on iOS, an Apple ad attribution token, used to measure which advertisements led to an install
• App usage statistics, performance data, crash reports and error logs
• Subscription status and purchase events reported to us by the App Store or Google Play

Sayka does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your address, phone number or payment details.

1.3 Information Stored Only on Your Device

Your lesson progress, review cards, conversation history, session reports, pronunciation scores and streak are stored in the app on your device. They are removed when you delete the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Tutor Replies: To generate your tutor's replies, corrections, hints, translations and session reports
• Personalisation: To adapt conversations and explanations to your level, interests and native language
• Subscriptions: To verify purchase status and unlock Sayka Pro
• App Improvement: To understand how the app is used, fix crashes and improve reliability
• Advertising Measurement: To measure the performance of our own advertising campaigns
• Support and Security: To respond to your requests, detect abuse and keep the Service secure

3. AI Processing and Third-Party Providers

When you talk to your tutor, the text of your message and the context needed to answer it (such as your level and the scenario) are sent over an encrypted connection to our servers, which forward them to third-party AI model providers to generate the response. We do not use your conversations to train AI models, and we do not keep your conversations on our servers after the response has been produced.

Speech recognition is provided by your device's operating system (Apple or Google). Depending on your device and its settings, that recognition may be processed on the device or by the operating system provider under its own privacy policy. The tutor's voice is synthesised on your device.

We also use the following service providers, each under its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration)
• Mixpanel (product analytics)
• Apple App Store and Google Play (purchases and subscription management)

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers described above, when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the Service.

5. Data Retention

Conversation text is processed to produce a response and is not retained on our servers. Analytics and crash data are retained for as long as needed for the purposes described above. League entries are kept for the current and recent weekly boards. Data stored on your device remains there until you delete it or remove the app.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• You can delete all data stored on your device by deleting the app
• You can reset your advertising ID or limit ad tracking in your device settings
• You can decline microphone and speech recognition permission and type your replies instead
• Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Transfers

Our servers and service providers may be located outside your country. By using the Service you understand that your information may be processed in countries with data protection laws different from those of your own.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last Updated" date above.
